We have all heard about the bad press given to witches over the last few hundred years. But you may be confusing witches with
the stereotypical witches of fairy tales, with their pointy hats and flying broomsticks, turning princes into frogs and fattening
up children for supper. Or you may think witches are evil, owing to historical reports about men, women, children and even
cats being put to death on suspician of sorcery.
Some
of them may have had evil intentions, but on the whole it's safe to assume that the majority were innocent victims of a religious
crusade to wipe out all none christian beliefs coupled with the odd boundry dispute. For if you accused your neighbour of
witchcraft and they were found guilty (as many were) you got to take both their land and possessions. It's not difficult to
see why witch hunts caught on big time.
But witches over all aren't that evil, perhaps
not innocent little angels, but most live by the strict rules of the Wiccan Rede, HARMING NONE.
